The Raven Annex

This section includes reports of observations of ravens.

Although this site is dedicated to research on the American crow, we do sometimes receive reports on raven behavior which we will post on this page.

Holbrook, Arizona, U.S.A.: 12/26/99

We were returning from the painted desert and stoped in a McDonald's for lunch and upon entering we observed 10 to 15 ravens raiding the trash dumpster. As we sat eating we watched them. As we were leaving my oldest son was exiting with a box of frys in his hand when a raven swooped down and launched a wadded up bag at my son, just missing his head. After thinking about it we relized that it was an attempt to startle him in droping the frys. We laughed and remarked on how resourful they where. (Robert Johnston)
